![]() May new servers carry on the work that The Hive started. Though it may have died, The Hive will always live on in our memories as a fun place to play. No one can ever really replace The Hive, not even The Hive itself. Is the hive a secure server You will be unable to access the server if you have been. In the coming years, I believe Minecraft Java will be obsolete. It’s at Microsoft’s Minecraft Bedrock, and the developers are constantly pushing it over Java. Some have gone on to Hive Bedrock, but Bedrock just isn't the same as good old Hive Java. It’s a huge deal that Hive Java is shutting down because it’s not as profitable as Bedrock. Many former Hive players have moved on to other servers. The Hive has left a gaping hole in the Java community, one that will not be filled easily. At the time of its closing, The Hive Java had 13,674,343 unique player joins. It's truly sad to see so many thousands of players without a server. If you went on to the server at any given time, there would probably be just one or two ranked people in your lobby, out of the 15 or so online. The Hive Java had a terrible rank system, compared to other popular servers. So why are Cubcraft and Mineplex still around on Java while The Hive has closed its doors. Though Mineplex had a player count similar to (if not less than) The Hive, they've managed to stick around, thanks to their monthly subscription rank, which they recently released. Cubcraft Java was in a very similar position to the hive, not so long ago, but with more frequent updates, a revamped voting system, and even NA servers, they've been able to almost double their player count in the last few months. In most of these cases, the server team has split, meaning that less work gets done on the java server. But HiveMC isn't unique in this way, the trio of popular Java servers that now have Bedrock ports (The Hive, Mineplex, and Cubecraft) have all had similar issues. For several years now, active players have been complaining about the lack of updates. In a post made to the Java forums, The Hive cited being stuck on 1.8 as one of the primary reasons for closing, quote "The most considerable advantage for us is not being limited by developing for a version of the game that came out over five years ago." The Hive also cited increasing costs and outdated hardware.īut these aren't the only issues that plagued HiveMC Java server. All of this changed abruptly when, on January 11, 2021, Hive announced it would be shuttering the Java Edition server. ![]() HiveMC Server, Java Edition - Hive Java has been a staple of the Minecraft mini-game community since it launched on November 11, 2012.
